Winslow Town Centre Regeneration

Avanti Architects was appointed to masterplan and regenerate a major town centre site spanning 2.2 hectares in the market town of Winslow. The town centre renewal is triggered by the improved rail connection between Oxford and Cambridge and the introduction of a new rail station directly north of the site. The project includes a new public library, workspace for community lettings, supporting health facilities, 77 extra care homes and 101 mainstream homes in the form of flats and terraced houses across both social and private tenures. The scheme also delivers substantial landscape and ecology improvements including a Neighbourhood Equipped Area for Play (NEAP), a dedicated garden for the library, cycle routes connecting the new station and the town centre and a swale to improve the setting of public and contribute to Sustainable Urban Drainage. The Avanti masterplan responds to the unique characteristics and historic qualities of the town and aims to create a strong sense of place. The masterplan was accompanied by a Design Code.
