White Hart Annex, Lewes
LewesPlanning permission has been granted for five four-storey townhouses in the historic centre of Lewes, within the South Downs National Park. The houses occupy a constrained, stepped backland site off the High Street, at the heart of the conservation area.
The development makes use of the deep footprint of an existing run-down property, introducing a stepped rain garden at the front and a central lightwell to bring daylight into the heart of each home. Traditional materials – including flint, brickwork, and French windows – are combined with profiled metal to the set back upper storey to give the scheme a contextual yet fresh contemporary identity.
