Thomas Fairchild Community School

London

This project is a redevelopment of a former 1.5FE primary school following a devastating fire. The new building is designed on the footprint of the existing Victorian school and connects into an existing children’s centre. A heart space on the ground floor is designed to provide greater integration and training for parents. Whilst the building currently accommodates 2FE entry, the infrastructure of the building is designed to allow for an additional floor in order to expand the school to 3FE. Avanti’s adaptability strategy also allows the building to be converted for secondary use should the current bulge in primary provision fall away. The interior spaces enjoy high quality natural daylight and ventilation and innovative open planned support spaces around each cluster of classrooms.
