This project which is part of the wider Shoreditch estate consists largely of conversion of disused nineteenth century historic warehouse and Arts & Crafts buildings to new Grade A office space and new residential accommodation. The site is situated in close proximity to Liverpool Street station, Spitalfields market and the Elder Street conservation area.
Avanti’s proposals consist of converting the historic buildings into office space for SMEs and creative industries.
The facade of the nineteenth century warehouses are retained but a range of different strategies are used for the interior spaces. The rear of the warehouses are completely ‘reskinned’ to create new stair and lift cores. The Arts and Crafts and other Victorian buildings are also refurbished for SME office use but in these instances opening created within party walls allow larger more efficient floor plates to be created. Overall the scheme provides nearly 6,000 sqm of new office space.
