Avanti Architects have been involved with several different types of zoo building. As zoological science has developed so have the requirements for animal care and in turn the design of display enclosures has evolved to better serve the environmental needs of the species as well as satisfying the viewing requirements of the public. Our work has involved not only specifying the requisite repair works for architecturally significant listed structures, but also devising suitable alternative uses for buildings that are no longer viable as zoological exhibits.
