Mossbourne Riverside Academy

London

Mossbourne Riverside Academy is a new high profile 3 Form entry primary school on the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park for a multi stakeholder client team that includes London Legacy Development Corporation, London Borough of Hackney and Mossbourne Federation as school sponsor. The design responds to the stringent requirements of these three bodies whilst overcoming significant site constraints.

The site is also part of the Legacy Communities Scheme, ensuring the sustainable future of the Olympic Park after the 2012 games. Part of delivering this legacy is meeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ target.

To ensure the school could be delivered within the funding envelope and complex site constraints, an innovative off-site construction methodology was adopted in the form of a Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Frame. Avanti has successfully delivered the recently completed award winning Ickburgh School using this same system.
