The two Highpoint apartment blocks in Highgate, north London, designed by Lubetkin and Tecton and completed in 1935 and 1938, are internationally recognised as the most outstanding examples of modern residential architecture in England.
We have been involved with various projects at the Highpoint apartment buildings (now both listed Grade I) over a period of nearly twenty years. These have included individual flat refurbishments, estate security consultancy work, lift replacement and the specialist restoration of Lubetkin’s unique rooftop penthouse (above).
This latter project involved intensive research into every detail of the interior, including furniture and fabric, in order to produce a completely authentic restoration.
The lift replacement entailed careful retention and refurbishment of key original architectural features whilst completely replacing the cars, controls and operational installations to achieve compliance with current technical and insurance requirements.
