Dover Castle Masterplan

Avanti Architects has worked closely with English Heritage on the implementation of a phased new masterplan for Dover Castle ‘Guarding England’s Gate’, incorporating a series of phased interventions aimed at significantly enhancing the overall visitor experience at Dover Castle. The first phase included the conservation and repair of key defensive scheduled ancient monuments including the east curtain wall, the refurbishment of the two public cafes & WCs combined with new public realm works.   This was followed by phases of work which tell the story of siege through new immersive interactive displays within the casemates & medieval tunnels and an imaginative new siege-themed play area.  A new viewing area also offers panoramic castle views from the northern Spur previously inaccessible to the public.
