66 Frognal

London

This Grade II* listed house was designed by Colin Lucas of Connell, Ward and Lucas, and completed in 1938. The property had deteriorated significantly due to persistent lack of maintenance by a previous owner.

Avanti Architects was commissioned by its new owner in 2000 to design and specify a full scheme of repair, upgrade and alteration works. The house had already undergone changes prior to listing, with addition of an integral swimming pool and in-filling of a roof terrace to provide a new master bedroom suite. These alterations were rebuilt with the approval of English Heritage in a manner sympathetic to the original design, and Listed Building Consent was granted.

66 Frognal is now a state-of-the-art 21st century home, that can once again be recognised as an outstanding building of its period.
