Fiona joined Avanti Architects in 1998 and became an Associate in 2010 then an Associate Director in 2016. Since joining Avanti she has developed her interest and wide ranging experience in conservation, adaptive and transformational re-use of listed buildings. Her work includes the successful restoration of the Grade I listed Isokon Flats in London, which won the RIBA Crown Estate Conservation Award which was described as an ‘outstanding example of creative conservation securing a sustainable future for a Grade I listed building at risk’.

Thinking creatively about historic buildings, in their refurbishment, extension, reuse, and repair, is central to Fiona’s work.  She has also been a key author of conservation plans and listed building management guidelines providing tools for the positive management of the historic buildings, guiding future change.   Fiona is a visiting lecturer on the MA course in Historic Environment Conservation at Ironbridge Institute, University of Birmingham.
