South London Pathology Services Progress

We are delighted to see the fast pace of progress at SLIPS (South London Integrated Pathology Services), the 11,000m² conversion of an existing office building on Blackfriars Road into state-of-the-art integrated pathology facilities for Synnovis, a partnership between Synlab(UK) and the NHS. The new facility is a vital new hub for the delivery of pathology services to a number of South London NHS Trusts.

Avanti Architects were initially commissioned by Synlab to develop the concept designs, and are now acting as Client Advisor to monitor the design and implementation on site, with detailed design and construction being undertaken by Mace.

The facilities comprise Containment Level 2 and 3 Laboratories, specimen triage and reception area, science support spaces, write-up and reporting spaces, meeting rooms, staff amenities and reception spaces. Interventions to the façade include installation of large service doors to facilitate future replacement of equipment. The fit-out is proceeding at pace, with specialist laboratory equipment, now being installed. Completion is due in late 2023.
