Rathfriland Medical Village planning approved
12 February 2020Avanti Architects are delighted with the news that planning approval has been given for a new 16,000m2 Medical Village in Rathfriland, County Down. The scheme was passed without issue and has been developed alongside extensive consultation with the local community.
The Rathfriland Medical Village concept was developed to respond to local needs following an earlier closure of a GP practice and oversubscribed community health facilities.
Rathfriland Medical Village will provide a health centre, residential nursing home, retirement homes and assisted living apartments to suit multi-generational use and facilitate varying levels of assistance. The health village will include a GP, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Pharmacy, Dentist and an Optician for the local community and also indoor and outdoor therapy and activity spaces for all residents.
Local Entrepreneur & Project Lead Brian McConville said, “I am from Rathfriland and I have seen the difficult situation current health care providers and patients are experiencing in the town. We are absolutely delighted that we have been able to bring this vision through the planning process.”
The project team includes Rathbane Holdings and the McConville family, supported by Avanti Architects, TSA Planning and Kevin McShane Ltd.
