MAKERS MIXED USE – NLA AWARDS 2021 SHORTLISTED

The Makers mixed use school and residential project has been shortlisted under the Mixing category at the 2021 New London Architecture Awards. The Makers is a flagship mixed-use regeneration scheme offering a new, innovative model for densification of inner-city sites and a sustainable way of funding new education facilities via residential development.

This project offers a new, innovative, sustainable model for densification of inner-city sites & addresses shortfalls in funding for new public facilities. 175 residential units & commercial/gallery space cross-fund the building of a school and other public benefits. The site strategy adopts a layered approach with low, mid & high rise volumes. Within the overall envelope the school is articulated as a podium with residential accommodation above. It also makes an outstanding contribution to the local neighbourhood through creation of a new public space & improved connectivity and permeability.
