21 November 2019

As one of the Judging panel for the 2019 AJ Awards Health & Wellbeing project category, Director for Healthcare, Duncan Finch and the other panel members have been all over the country visiting shortlisted projects for the past few months.  The panel included Anne-Marie Nicholson, senior partner, PRP & Nick Cramp, senior partner, Max Fordham.

At the award ceremony last week, Duncan presented the award to jmarchitects for their New Gorbals Health and Care Centre project.

The other shortlisted entrants were:

  • Maggie’s Cardiff by Dow Jones Architects
  • Alder Hey Children’s Hospital: Institute in the Park by Hopkins Architects
  • St Peter’s Hospice by KKE Architects
  • Shaftesbury Hall by Mulroy Architects

Duncan said ‘it was a real honour to be asked by the AJ to be part of the judging panel, and it was inspiring to visit a series of buildings that were so different in terms of their scale and function, but that shared a commitment to the creation of beautiful and socially beneficial buildings, and that clearly communicated a caring ethos’.
