Banbridge shortlisted for the RIBA Northern Ireland 2016 Awards
14 March 2016Just five schemes have been shortlisted for this year’s RIBA Northern Ireland Regional Awards including Avanti Architects Banbridge Health and Care Centre , in association with Kennedy FitzGerald Architects.
Banbridge Health and Care Centre was conceived as one “combined” building that would provide facilities for a range of primary care, community care and acute diagnostic services at a single location. The aim of this approach was to provide efficiencies by sharing accommodation and services and reducing travel by bringing services together onto one site
The schemes also in the running include McGonigle McGrath’s conversion of a listed townhouse in Belfast into a new home for cancer charity, Clic Sargent and a new graduate school at Queen’s University Belfast by Consarc , a cor-ten-clad student hub by Burwell Deakins Architects, and the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine by Ostick and Williams.
The winners will be announced in mid-April.
Regional winners will be put forward for the RIBA National Awards, with the lucky recipients announced in June. Those collecting national awards will then be considered for the 2015 RIBA Stirling Prize.
