Avanti’s Cherry Hill wins ‘Best of the Best’ award

30 June 2021

The luxury lifestyle magazine Robb Report has awarded Avanti’s Cherry Hill refurbishment with its ‘Best of the Best’ award for 2021 for the Best Historic Home in the World.

Cherry Hill is a 1930’s Grade II listed modern house designed by Oliver Hill situated just off the fourth fairway of Wentworth golf course in Surrey. The project was a sensitive and ambitious restoration that retained the original architectural character and elegance of the original  design whilst creating a wholly sustainable modern home with all the space, amenities, and services an owner would expect of a house in such a prestigious location.

As the Robb Report notes, the property ‘has been painstakingly restored using materials favored by Hill’s contemporary Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, such as Macassar-ebony veneers and Verde Tinos marble’.

The Robb Report editor states:

‘Amongst the world of luxury it had to be beyond luxury to receive the award….. not surprising given the smallest details executed perfectly, a level of precision and thought that elevates the few from the rest, even at the top of the tree…..the result of years and years of an unflinching pursuit of perfection.’

The property is currently being marketed by Bath & Bath – see www.modernistmasterpiece.com for further information.
