Avanti Team Ulster Site Visit

12 November 2015

The Avanti team have just got back from a fantastic site trip in Ulster, visiting four Avanti projects in the region completed in association with Kennedy Fitzgerald Architects, Belfast.

The day started on site at the new 30,000 m² Generic Ward Block at Ulster Hospital Belfast, which is currently under construction and due for completion in 2016. The new ward block will be the first in Northern Ireland to provide 100% single room accommodation. The team then took a 45 minute drive to Portadown Health Centre which provides a ‘one stop shop’ for primary and community care services. After a bite to eat and a tour of the centre we were off again to Avanti’s recently completed Banbridge Health Centre which is a Community Treatment, Care and Day-care Centre. The smell of fresh paint still lingered in the air and natural light filled the internal areas of the completed atrium and stepped courtyard at the heart of the building.

The last stop on our journey was a visit to the Grove Health & Wellbeing Centre in Belfast which was the first centre in Northern Ireland to combine Health, Leisure and Library services under one roof. On a wet Belfast evening the Grove lit up from the road as an inviting centre for the community and the people that work there. The trip ended at Deans at Queens Restaurant in Belfast with a lovely meal and the whole team where buzzing from the day’s visit.

The Avanti team all got home safely too, including our Kinsale compatriots.
