Avanti shortlisted with BIG for Barbican Centre renewal competition

Avanti Architects are shortlisted as part of the collaborative team for the Barbican Centre renewal competition led by BIG together with POoR Collective, alongside Applied, Atelier Ten, Barker Langham, Buro Happold, Charcoalblue, Rhael ‘LionHeart’ Cape, People Friendly Design, and Speirs + Major. This is a high profile competition launched by the City of London to transform the Brutalist arts centre ‘to meet the needs of 21st-century artists, audiences and communities’.

The City of London Corporation has stated that ‘this project will strengthen the Barbican’s ability to play a leading role in the recovery of the City and the capital from the pandemic.’

We look forward to working with this exciting, multi-talented creative team to over the next stage of the competition. We have a long history of working on the Barbican, having developed the listed building guidelines adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document following publication in 2005 see Barbican Estates for more information.
