The Hinterland film

30 September 2016

In March this year, the ruins of St Peter’s Seminary, near Glasgow, were open to the public. NVA created a stunning light and sound event designed to reveal the full glory of the neglected modernist building. The Hinterland film by NVA was created by cinematographer Julian Schwanitz and is available via Vimeo.

8,000 people attended the original event, which launched Scotland’s Festival of Architecture 2016.  Avanti Architects have been commissioned by NVA to develop plans to partially restore, consolidate and adapt the buildings to create an education and public arts centre within the 57 hectare site and bring it back into use as a national platform for public art.
